Say Goodbye To Feudal Democracy !

KARACHI, March 16:

Five years of feudal democracy have come to an end now. And while the prime minister in his last speech recounted the measures taken by his government for strengthening democracy, and in legislation-making, a majority of businessmen and other sections of society believe that during this period, the common man suffered due to bad governance, poor economic conditions, rise in inflation, rupee devaluation against the dollar and worst and law and order situation, drone attacks, target killings, extensive corruption, persistent power shortages, and resultant energy crisis and the government could not ensure basic necessities of life to a majority of population.

There is still no water in big cities, including Karachi and Lahore what to say of the availability of drugs , food and a place to live in. But the government enjoyed the tenure leisurely.

The democracy is the government of the people, for the people and by the people. The elected people are worldwide considered servants of the people, and not their masters, but in Pakistan, the dishonest and corrupt hold the show through scoundrels.

Political parties misuse their power and ultimately people suffer and lose their democratic right. So it is not, of course, the government by the people.

Although Pakistanis has a great potential, what is needed is a honest leadership because politicians with feudal background always take over and the middle class is sidelined. Subsequently, the middle class suffers.

Democracy can never exist without rule of law, justice, civil liberties and equality of opportunities. But our democratic government failed to ensure justice and equality. They failed to even implement their slogan of “Roti, Kapra and Makan.” It is the reason that a real democracy could not flourish in our country.

Now Election Commission of Pakistan has a huge responsibility to carry out proper screening of the papers submitted by the politicians and it should be ensured that politician fulfill the requirements of Article 62-63…

Moreover, people would have to vote without keeping aside community or ethnic prejudices, they would have to show a sense of belonging in the upcoming elections. Otherwise, they would have move towards an Islamic system of governance and say good bye to feudal democracy.
